Am I the only one who liked season 1 of Daredevil better than season 2? More specifically I’m curious about opinions on the hallway fight vs. the stairwell fight.

By no means do I think season 2 is bad but it just feels a tad more heavy handed than season 1. Like the showrunners were very careful not to shout at you constantly He’s blind! He’s Catholic! and it seems like the new showrunners are less cautious about shoving that stuff in your face.

Also, what is Stick’s buddy driving?

Season two is a bit messy. Which is sad because I like the way the Punisher is portayed. I think the first season was better though...

The fight scences are a bit - dare I say - boring by now. Yeah, throw another bunch of nameless ninjas against him in some kind of dark, desolated place.

And he is driving a blacked out Checker cab

I liked both, but I enjoyed the hallway fight better as well, it just was such a refreshing style of fighting in a genre where punching someone either knocks them out, or they don’t even register it as a strike. There were a couple times where I was thinking to myself “why are they still trying to fight? they are obviously getting their asses kicked.” The punisher rampage especially was a little jarring, I would imagine real inmates would back off right around the time the broom handle impaled their buddy.

Yeah, in general I’d say season 2 seemed a little sloppier. It wouldn’t be so noticeable on another show but season 1 was very well put together.

I thought Season 2 was a huge improvement compared to Season 1 in almost every way.

Season 1 was fine, but after Jessica Jones it - for some reason to me - felt really weak in comparison to ‘Jones. I think Season 2 did a good job of rectifying that.

I really enjoyed the stairwell fight. If there is any discussion about hallway fights, Old Boy took that title in 2003.

For me, it had a lot to do with Season 2 not having a central villain. The Punisher is an antihero, Electra is ambiguous, The Chaist are ambiguous, The Hand are only important in the last few episodes, and the Blacksmith was a horrible payoff. To top it off there was no ending. I still enjoyed most of it though, just not as much as season 1.

Season two was still great, but not as good as season one. It just didn’t have the tension. I think it lacked a cohesive villain, and the plot was a bit confused. Did we ever find out who the Blacksmith was? I’m not sure. Why did Frank suddenly show up and help DD at the end? Weird stuff. But I liked Elektra alot. She was probably the most interesting character.

The stairwell scene was awesome, but I still prefer the hallway, since it was one-shot. It’s just more impressive.

I liked the characters in season 2, but I got very tired of the constant ninjas.

They did an admirable job trying to make the stairwell fight look like one continuous shot, but yeah, you can tell there were at least 3 or 4 cuts while going down the stairs.

The hallway fight was definitely better, but the stairwell fight was still good, which I think is how I feel about the seasons as a whole.

The main thing I didn’t like about season 2 was that they spent most of it focusing on how Daredevil’s attitude toward killing clashed with Punisher and Elektra’s, even having the scene with the Hand assassin in his apartment, and then in the finale suddenly he didn’t care that Elektra’s was killing the Hand ninjas. He even went so far as to be appreciative of Castle shooting them.

Unless i missed something, it wasn’t like they gave us a scene where he decided it was fine for them to kill even though he wouldn’t. And the only person he tried to kill was Nobu, which seemed kind of odd after he took the time to take down the ninjas non-lethally, even if it may have been revenge for Elektra’s murder.

I think the hand gets special treatment because they’ve all died already so they’re just being returned to their natural state.

I have 2 episodes to go, but I like this season better than 1. The first season was too serious, or something. The additions of the Punisher and Elektra made this one much more fun to watch even if the storyline was more scattered. And you can never have too many ninjas. I thought the stairwell fight was a good way to one-up the hallway. It was a really well choreographed action scene. Both scenes, in my opinion, are Raid rip-offs, but well done, and action movies/shows should be stealing from The Raid movies.

Also, I really should not have posted this until I finished watching the last episode but I knew what I was getting myself into.

The hallway fight was better but the stairwell fight had supreme camera work. I was looking for shadows from the camera and I could find none.

I think both seasons though are by far the two greatest bodies of work to be released by Netflix.

Bernthal’s punisher was sublime. Best scene from the season was in Ep4 when he had his cemetery monologue. Great writing/acting
